Review On Eco Styler Gel Olive Oil

Ok, here goes. I am not a huge gel person, though I must say, sometimes it comes in handy. I usually DIM – read “Do-It-Myself” by making my own preferred Flaxseed gel.

So, in a crunch when time eludes me, I keep a tub of Eco Styler Gel with Olive Oil nearby.

Benefits Of Using A Hair Gel

I do a gel occasionally and the main reasons that come to mind are:

  • to set a hairstyle
  • to define the natural hair texture (curls, waves, anything)
  • to relax frizzy hair

You can also make homemade gels or even mix the gels with leave-in conditioners or even oils, base oils or essential oils.

Method Of Application:

I usually apply it to wet hair right after I co-wash. I  ensure that my hair is wet and not dripping and then apply the gel using the shingling method. I find it better this way as your hair is not dry as you apply the gel. If it gets dry, I simply use a spray bottle filled with water and re-wet the area that I need to finish.

PROS:

  • No flaking
  • Not too crunchy once dry. I find that all I need to do is simply finger/touch my curls and then they soften-up.
  • It holds my curls well
  • Safe for all types of hair
  • Alcohol-free, so it does not dry out your hair

CONS:

  • None

Here is a list of ingredients:

Water, Carbomer, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, PVP, Glycerin Triethanolamine, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Polysorbate 20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance and 100% pure olive oil.

My Final Thoughts

A big YES!

I will always have a tub on hand, or should I say – at my fingertips??!!

My wife has beautiful black natural hair, she’s using ECO and it’s working fine for her hair, good natural product.

I’ve used this gel–no problems, no flaking and a little bit goes a long way! I’ve used it mainly on my hairline with wigs or braids. Since I’m a “product junkie” I guess the only drawback for me is that I bought some a year ago and it’s still in my cabinet!!

LOL! Yes, we are all guilty of being a ‘product junkie’ at some time or other in our hair journey. I tell myself, however, that one way of knowing if something works for my hair is by trying it. And for these times, I purchase small amounts and give it a ‘whirl’. Thanks for your thoughts.
