Flax seed Gel

Flax seeds

This gel is fairly easy to make. To start, add about 2 tablespoons of flax seeds to 12 tablespoons of water. The key here is to boil the water first until it bubbles, and then add the flax seeds. Once added, turn the heat down after you see the mixture starting to bubble as well. It is the length of time that it simmers that creates the consistency of the gel. This is wholly determined by you. I like it medium thick so I keep it on heat for about 15-20 mins and then strain the mix using a nylon strainer. I keep it in a glass jar and once it’s cooled, I store it in the refrigerator for about one week. I generally make enough for two or three washes.

I sometimes add one tablespoon coconut oil to it and it makes my curls soft and shiny. YOu can also add any essential oil of your choice to further enhance the quality and smell of the gel mix.
